Portello Rosso

Portello Rosso’s paella does not disappoint in their generosity with the seasonal vegetables. Often or not vegetables tend to be skimped on, but not in this case. You can see from the pictures that the paella pan was just filled to the brim with seasonal goodness, and it did not disappoint one bit in taste.

Dandenong Pavillion

Dandenong Pavillion, has a secret burger menu…say what?! You heard me. After doing a little search on their online menu and seeing so many different burgers across other burger based blogs which I was sure wasn’t on their normal menu, I knew something was up. Something was not right and as a fellow foodie, I had to investigate this for myself and other fellow like minded foodists. The secret is, unless you explicitly ask for the secret burger menu, they won’t give it to you.

Editing. Sneak peek of a vegan maple and date loaf recipe I’ve created that’s been on the back burner for a while because going though 50 photos of the same thing can be a real drainer lol I’ve tested the recipe 5x and have gotten great feedback, so I can’t wait to finally share it with you guys soon

Shizuku Ramen

I recently received an email from David Chen, the man who brought you Melbourne’s first ramen burgers to dine at Shizuku Ramen as a guest. The modern Japanese restaurant with is dark tinted windows and its sleek design is located in the heart of Richmond on Victoria, a very busy narrow street almost always lined up with cars, trams and people on the sidewalk deciding where they want to go to eat. Given all the options available for your average person, it is no wonder that restaurants like Shizuku Ramen need to work extra hard to set itself apart from its competitors.

ChangGo

image

It would be safe to say that ChangGo serves up a pretty mean KBBQ, one of the best I’ve had in Melbourne thus far in fact. Known for it’s signature 8 marinated pieces of Pork Belly in it’s BBQ Pork set serving enough to feed to 2-3 people. ChangGo opens at 5:30pm 7 days a week for dinner only with no booking system other than to line up and wait. You know you can look forward to a good feed when there are groups of people lining up outside waiting to be seated.

Palsaik (& colourful flavours pork) Set $58.80.  Flavours are from left to right: red pepper paste, miso paste, curry, herb, garlic, ginseng, original and wine.

Mr Tulk

image

How in all my years of studying in the city did I miss this place? Mr Tulk as I would have you believe is located just next to the Victorian State Library on La Trobe St, where during my Melbourne Uni years is near the stop where I took the tram to and from university nearly every day.

The fact that I had never ventured beyond the tram stop in this direction to check our this cafe still baffles me to this day.  Well its better late than never (when I’m no longer anywhere near the CBD these days), to finally give this place a shot.
